smart design (. . .) smart life

The smart design (. . .) smart life manifesto is a set of criteria developed by designers Jacob de Baan and Rianne Koens with curator Giorgio Caione to test the public perception of their own work. The exhibited objects including SAFIR – are all for domestic use and are designed to fulfil everyday needs such as illumination, storage, and cooking. The installation is show on the Istanbul Design Biennial 2014 and borrows from shop windows and department store displays, revealing details of objects’ backstory. Visitors’ actions are investigated through a hidden marketing strategy and an open participatory poll.
