Heinen Delfts Blauw

HEINEN DELFTS BLAUW creates the famous Dutch blue and white porcelain. It is a company seeped in tradition but also one that felt the need to develop and grow combining entrepreneurship and craftsmanship. Jacob de Baan was asked to be art director and project leader to develop a new corporate style as well as to collaborate with Dutch designers. The new name ‘Heinen Delfts Blauw’ was developed with a new tagline: ‘creating new traditions’. DAY was asked to develop a new visual identity, packaging ranges and exterior branding with these as the starting points, as well as, their new core values of: father to son, family business, loyalty, creative, chaotic and passionate.

Jacob de Baan – Transition(s). Sharing light design in Tarlabaşı

Jacob de Baan is a passenger. He lives between Amsterdam and Istanbul, coming
and going, flying, walking and biking on the Dutch channels or along the Bosphorus.
He is a designer and he gets inspired by light. Twilight to dusk, morning to
evening, natural light to artificial one, eventually reflected on the North Sea or on the Golden Horn.

ISTANBUL DESIGN WEEK
TAZE TASARIM – fresh design like daily bread –

Curated by Jacob de Baan

The TAZE TASARIM project aims to bring Turkish designers together with the international creative industry and design world.
The selected Turkey based designers use design in a fresh new way. They do not communicate the ego of the designer but focus on the end user. Their designs are as fresh as crispy “simit” bread (typical bread in a ring shape) that Turkish people buy everyday from the simit street vendor cars. These iconic cars are taken as a metaphor to communicate the fresh Turkish design approach and vision.
